Support Services

The OSU Police Department Support Services includes the department’s communications and records unit.  

The communications unit is located in the department's communication center. The center is a well equipped, modern police dispatch center. The center is staffed by 8 full-time public safety communications officers. They handle not only the police communications, but also communications with other departments on campus and numerous local law enforcement and fire services agencies.

The communications center staff answers the majority of the telephone calls to the OSU Police Department and all emergency phones. All 911 calls originating on campus are routed directly to the communications center where caller and location information is available through the university's enhanced 911 computer system. Also all Emergency Blue Phone calls are routed directly to the communications center. As aids to the communications officers and 911 duties the communications center is equipped with campus wide intrusion and fire alarm system, computer-aided dispatch system, telephone and radio recording system, surveillance & recording system, a telecommunication device (TDD) for the deaf , a radio communications system, and a computer on the Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications system (OLETS)/ National Crime Information Center (NCIC) computer terminal.
