Public Service Officers

The OSU Police Department Public Service Officers are part-time student employees who assist patrol by responding to low-level calls such as fire alarms, motorist assists and entrance assists, as well as by giving general information to the public. The public service officers are not certified police officers but do receive introductory law enforcement training. Being a public service officer is a great way for students considering a career in law enforcement to get involved. Public service officers work closely with the patrol division and provide valuable services to the OSU community. The public service officer program is indispensable in helping the OSU Police Department guarantee campus safety and security.
