About the department
Creating a safer, stronger cowboy community
The OSU Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency dedicated to protecting and serving university campuses and affiliated properties through patrol operations, criminal investigations, proactive crime prevention, and event safety management.
Beyond traditional policing, the department actively engages with campus communities through safety education, committee involvement, advisory roles and collaborative initiatives to enhance campus security and improve traffic infrastructure across multiple locations.
Divisions Dedicated teams. Multiple campuses. One mission.
Patrol
The OSU Police Department Patrol Division provides 24-hour law enforcement services to OSU campuses Stillwater, Tulsa and CHS. Officers respond to calls for service, enforce traffic laws, manage crowd control and protect university property.
Investigations
The OSU Investigations Division investigates all crimes that occur within OSU Police jurisdiction. The main focus of our investigators is following up on reported crimes to identify responsible parties.
Dispatch
When seconds matter, you want the right help as quickly as possible — and the Oklahoma State University 911 Center makes it happen. As part of the OSUPD, we are the central dispatch point for OSU Stillwater, Tulsa, and CHS. Our dispatchers have in-depth familiarity with the hundreds of buildings across the 3 campuses, ensuring the right help gets to the right place as quickly as possible, 24/7.
Public Service Officers
The OSU Police Department public service officers are part-time student employees who provide SafeWalks, give general information to the public and respond to low-level calls such as unlocking a car or office door or jumping a battery.
Support Staff
The OSU Police Department’s support staff plays a vital role in daily operations by serving as the first point of contact for visitors and managing essential law enforcement records.
Community Policing
At Oklahoma State University, community policing is all about working together to keep our campuses safe, secure, and enjoyable for everyone. It’s not just about responding to crime—it’s about building strong relationships and partnerships across each campus.
Through our Community Policing Program, we offer fun and informative safety presentations to student groups, future Cowboys and their families, and more.
Tulsa Division
The OSU Police Department has a Tulsa Division, providing round-the-clock service to the campuses in Tulsa including OSU-Tulsa and the Center for Health Sciences as well as the OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation in Tahlequah.
Emergency Operations Center
Coordinating Campus-Wide Preparedness and Response Efforts
The OSU Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is a secure, state-of-the-art facility with advanced monitoring and communication systems that enable coordinated emergency and disaster response. Working with OSU departments, local and state agencies, the EOC provides critical information, resources, and planning to ensure preparedness, effective response, and recovery.
