Carreker East Update 10-23-2025

We wanted to provide an update on the shooting that occurred on campus in the early hours of Sunday, Oct. 19. Our thoughts and prayers are with our student who is recovering in the hospital. It appears he was truly a victim in this senseless act.

Statement from Chief Beckner: Incident at Carreker East

Oklahoma State University Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that occurred outside Carreker East residence hall following an off-campus party, with no ongoing threat to campus; three individuals were injured, and OSUPD is working with local and state agencies to resolve the case. Incident at Carreker East

The OSU Police Department has responded to the scene of an incident at Carreker East residential hall on campus. Two individuals have been transported to the hospital. An investigation is underway and there is no ongoing threat to campus. Additional information will be provided here when it is available. OSUPD offers women's self-defense course

The OSU Police Department is offering the Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Basic Self-Defense Course this fall. This is a nationally recognized program that teaches realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women, beginning with awareness, prevention, and risk reduction and progressing to hands-on defense skills. Project Safe Stop helps individuals with autism prepare for traffic stops

Project Safe Stop, a free community event, gives people on the autism spectrum a safe way to practice traffic stops. The Autism Foundation of Oklahoma, OSUPD, Stillwater PD and the Payne County Sheriff’s Office are co-hosting the event, set for 6–7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, in the O’Brate Stadium parking lot. Families are invited to connect with local officers, take part in a mock traffic stop, and enjoy booths, food and fun.

Law enforcement responds to swatting call

The OSU Police Department is investigating a case of swatting affecting campus. Officers responded quickly and found no sign of a disturbance.
