Police Department

OSUPD to host active assailant training from June 30 to July 30

Wednesday, June 24, 2026

The training will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays in North Classroom Building

The Oklahoma State University Police Department will be hosting active assailant training with the Stillwater Police Department throughout July in the North Classroom Building on the OSU-Stillwater campus, off Hall of Fame Avenue.

Training will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Tuesday, June 30, through Thursday, July 30, except the week of July 20-24.

Passersby can expect the presence of multiple law enforcement vehicles and officers, and to hear the sounds of simulated gunfire. Officers may be "responding" from their vehicles, so officers may also be seen outside the North Classroom Building. Officers will be utilizing less-lethal ammunition, which can still be painful and damaging to the eyes and face. The public should stay out of the area unless being escorted.

Stillwater PD is coordinating the training, working closely with OSUPD Training Sgt. Enrico Alvarado.

“Should there ever be any large-scale event, the OSU Police Department and Stillwater PD will be working together. It’s critical to train together, building relationships and trust needed for any scenario,” Alvarado said.

The OSUPD has hosted Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Active Assailant training in the North Classroom Building in 2011, 2018, 2021 and 2023.
